A story about a Mesmer who skipped the personal story.


"The Human Race once Ruled Tyria. Now we struggle to hold our ground. We've been defeated, driven back, and broken. But we will not surrender. So many nations have fallen. Only Kryta still stands.Our faith is strong, despite the silence of the Six Gods. With courage, we'll make our stand in Divinity's Reach. The city is my home. I was born into luxury, a Noble of Divinity's Reach, and privilege comes with responsibility. I protect the commoners under my care. They believe in me. I'm grateful for their trust, and I will not let them down. Today, I planned to venture beyond the gates of the city and see the world for myself. But when I arrived in Shaemoor, I found the town under siege by Centaurs. Innocent villagers are in danger. Someone has to help. I will show the people that we can triumph, that there is still hope. This is my story."


A Mesmer by Trade, I stand with my Illusions as my only reinforcements. My blade, an ancient family relic, is my only weapon. I quickly get a feel for the weapons unique composition, and I instantly adapt it to my own style of fighting. My sword becomes a blur and centaurs fall one by one. A few adventures are gathered at the gates of Shaemoor's Garrison. We defend it as best as we can, and just when we think we might be overwhelmed soldiers open the gates. Our reprieve is short lived as the attack continues from the gates on the other side of the Garrison. With Captain Thackeray at our sides we push back the Centaurs. A lone fleeing Centaur Sage conjure's an enormous Earth Elemental, leaving us to defend ourselves once again. The Elemental is fierce, before I know whats happening I am knocked down. I struggle to get back up throwing everything I have at the Elemental. The last thing about the battle I remember was a smaller summoned Earth Elemental's rock fist smashing into my skull.


I awoke in the Infirmary unsure of why I was there. A priestess explained that I was injured in an explosion, I did not remember an explosion. She explained that some of my friends had been there to see me while I was unconscious. I thanked the Priestess and was on my way.


Back at home I was surprised to find a big gathering of friends and family cheering "Katree!"They were calling me a Hero. I was overwhelmed and ran off before anyone could say anything to me. Tears streamed down my face, I knew I was not a hero. I was taken out by a small elemental and was lucky to be alive. I decided that I could not face the town again and ventured off into the valley.

That's right! Today's the day! Guild Wars 2 is now available for Pre-Purchase! Needless to say I'm pretty excited about the game, as I didn't get to play in any of the recent beta's.

I purchased the Digital Deluxe version of the game. Why? Because if I wanted a figurine I'd just get the Plushie from the Penny Arcade store. Its so much cuddlier.

When do Beta Weekend Events (BWEs) start, and how many will there be?

The first BWE is currently planned for late April, and we expect to have one every month or so. The schedule is subject to change and will be confirmed at a later date. Currently, we do not know how many of these events we will have."

Looks like there's going to be a beta at the end of this month and I'll be there letting you know all about my experience.  By the way remember if you Pre-Purchase the game you'll be able to get into all of the beta weekends up until release.  Also keep in mind that you will not have to pay a monthly fee for this MMORPG.

I spent most of yesterday morning and evening immersed in the game, playing around a total of 8 hours. This time however I ditched the keyboard and mouse altogether for the dusty Xbox 360 controller. Yeah its the dreaded controller that's been mocking me ever since I stopped playing Final Fantasy XIII Hallway Edition. (Yeah that's Jontron.)

I have to say that I'm hooked on this game. Sure I played similar games and liked them but this game just hits me in all the right spots. Where with other games I want to stop playing after a little while, with this one I just want to keep going. I'm always wondering what beautiful or scary thing might be lurking around the next ridge or the next dungeons corner.

I have to say that this game is definitely hitting the Zelda explorer chord with me.  Almost no game can do that. Well maybe Xenoblade but that's a whole nother story.

I can't state enough how much I enjoy playing this game. Not going to say best game of all time but its definitely up there as one of my top favorites.

Lets go a bit into detail about what I like in this game. When your tossed into the game you are given very little story about who you are and why you are there. Your just a prisoner on a cart riding off to your doom to be beheaded.  Is it my fault I was just chillin in the wrong area at the wrong time?

The story brings you into the game and puts you in the perspective of why the heck am I here which, in my opinion is pretty much how I feel when ever I start reading a story.  "Why am I here?"

There are of course beautiful graphics, but some of the scenes are just breathtaking. No they are not scenes like most games where you are just guided to look at pretty scenery by some computer driven camera. This is your intractable environment which makes me giddy just thinking about it again.

The combat I have to say is pretty difficult, but in the end extremely rewarding. I had a run-in with an Ice Troll that quite literally trolled me to death. MANY times. Revenge or slaughter what ever you want to call it (Blind luck), but when I finally beat the troll you can probably imagine my extreme excitement. Needless to say there was a lot of fist pumping and very embarrassing antics that took place. Luckily I have the weekend and house to myself.

The inventory system is pretty simple and straightforward, with a customizable favorite system that allows you quick access to just about everything you need. The favorite system is not just for items either as you can access spells and abilities as well.

I have to say that the control scheme for the PC with controller is amazing and feels like it was made to played with a controller. The PC Keyboard and Mouse setup on the other hand I have to say was extremely lacking. Looking around with the mouse was clunky and I couldn't look up and down properly no matter how many changes I made to the settings.

It feels like it is built for a controller and lacks decent mouse and keyboard controls. Plugging in the controller made all of that go away thankfully.  Its ok in another way too because I am getting used to the QWER controls from League of Legends and really don't want to go back to my old WASD ways.(Even though I know I'll have to eventually for Guild Wars 2.)

Other than the little control hiccup I had I can't say there were any other problems with the game that were not my old rusty computers fault.



I have to give the game 95/100 green slimes.

I happened to get my hands on a copy of Skyrim today and played the first 15-20 minutes into the game.

My PC is not  the greatest but, with the settings down a bit it looks a lot like the PS3 or the 360's version! All kidding aside I had a pretty great time with it. I'm at a point where I have to do a bit of traveling. The game reminds me of the Fallout series recent games just in a midevil setting.

I love how they changed up the 3rd person look and feel in the game, it makes it feel so much better than Oblivion and Morrowind's. I honestly can't say more till I play a bit more. So I'll see you when I'm a bit further in.

What? Another Wasteland? Another Vault you say? Sweet another Fallout! Oh wait whats that, its not another Fallout game? What the heck is it then?

Ahhh Borderlands Its only been out for a short while but in the end I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. This game is an Action RPG. What makes this game an Action RPG? Well in this game when you shoot something little numbers pop up when you do damage to a creature. The part that makes it an action game is that the controls are all based on how you would play a shooter.

If you’ve ever seen me broadcast any FPS games you’d get a nice visual of me stumbling around lost. I love to run into things, get stuck on things and back myself into walls. But because I suck at shooter does not make me shy away from them. Actually In Battlefield Heroes I think I’m quite good.

Borderlands is pretty tough, I’ve seen people run out of bullets in the first battle only to die and I had to revive them. The toughest part about the game is managing your loot. If your weapons and shields are not up to par with where your at in the game, things are gonna get really tough.

Yes I said that I was fighting with other players. This is a Multi player game which you can play co-op with up to 4 people. With the 2 or 3 games that I played in co-op mode I can tell you that the action gets pretty crazy when you hit more than 2 people. I was playing solo and went into an area and it was pretty calm. But the same area with multi player was tough with some crazy monsters I had never seen before.

You can drive vehicles with this game and each vehicle can hold up to 2 people, one driver and one gunner. It can be pretty fun with 2 vehicles going around slaughtering monsters. I especially love to drive over them, who doesn’t like roadkill?

I can’t emphasize enough about how much I love the loot system. I see one of the red cases that I know has guns in it and I get all tinglie inside. It does help that when you find a case of weapons your character talks.

I’ve been having a blast with this game and suggest it to everyone who asks me about it.

So grab a gun, jump on the bus to Pandora and get ready to duke it out with some ugly skags.
